This Privacy Policy explains how ShelfIt ("the App"), operated by Brittany Eames ("we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information you provide directly:
Information collected automatically:
Information from third-party sources:
When you save a link, our servers may fetch publicly available metadata from that webpage — such as the page title, description, and Open Graph tags — in order to display a useful summary. We do not store the full content of web pages, only the metadata needed to identify and describe the link.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your information for targeted advertising and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
ShelfIt uses Anthropic's Claude AI to automatically generate summaries and categories for links you save. When you save a link, the page title, description, and URL are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their own privacy policy and terms of service.
The Discover tab uses your saved link history to generate personalised recommendations. This analysis is performed by Claude AI and is based solely on the content you have saved. We do not share your data with advertisers or use it to build advertising profiles.
AI-generated summaries, categories, and recommendations are provided for convenience and may not always be accurate. They do not constitute professional advice of any kind.
By using the App, you consent to your saved link data being processed by Anthropic for the purposes described above.
ShelfIt may modify certain links you save to include affiliate tracking codes from programmes such as Amazon Associates, Booking.com, Awin, and others. This means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through a saved link, at no additional cost to you.
We will never overwrite an existing affiliate or referral code belonging to a creator, influencer, or third party. Affiliate tracking is applied only to links from participating retailers where no existing affiliate code is already present in the URL.
Affiliate link transformation happens automatically when a link is saved and processed. The transformed URL is stored in your shelf in place of the original.
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers: We share data with the following third-party providers who help us operate the App:
Public collections: If you choose to make a collection public, its name and contents will be visible to other ShelfIt users and accessible via a public URL. You can change a collection back to private at any time.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ShelfIt, our users, or the public.
Business transfers: If ShelfIt is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
ShelfIt is operated from the United Kingdom. Our service providers, including Supabase and Anthropic, may process your data in the United States and other countries. These countries may not have data protection laws equivalent to those in the UK or EEA.
Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including relying on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission where applicable.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our active systems within 30 days. Some information may be retained in backup systems for a limited period for fraud prevention and legal compliance purposes.
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the App.

Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the App at your own risk.
